Happy Halloween!!
I’ve never been interested in this celebration before but now, every time that I see a pumpkin I have a nostalgic feeling, and it was only two weeks ago when we arrived. When September ended in northeast countryside of the USA, homes were already decorated and there were fields covered with pumpkins for sale. Maybe this celebration is a little bit out of place here but it’s awesome how Halloween is cooked in its own sauce. I wish we could be there now!
I always try to travel with an open mind and this time again I checked that prejudices are just this, simply prejudices. Travelling by car through the USA and Canada countryside we have got to know this thing called American way of life beyond preconceived ideas. We came back with the memory of people’s kindness and politeness, of this time in a rainy night when a couple stopped their car beside ours to help us, of the safety feeling in towns where people leave their home doors unlocked, of their good driving manners...
Of course, there were things that shocked us and we didn’t liked but I don’t want to judge them because a three weeks trip don’t make me an expert in American society and a chapter of the spanish reality show callejeros is enough to know that Spaniards cannot give lessons of moral, civil society and democracy to anyone.
